"Review of birth registration practices in humanitarian action" - Plan International. April 2014.

This report was commissioned by Plan International. This report brings together the findings of a literature review on birth registration in emergencies, Plan’s own experiences, and case studies from other agencies. As a result, the review has led to the identification of several key factors and good practices which help to determine the effectiveness of birth registration.

"Analysis of the integration of the Minimum Package of Services for Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children and Youth within SADC Member States" - SADC Secretariat, RIATT-ESA and REPSSI. March 2013

Mutengo Consulting was commissioned by SADC Secretariat, RIATT-ESA and REPSSI to research and produce report regarding the Minimum Package of Services for Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children and Youth. The report includes an assessment of the extent to which SADC Member States had rolled out and integrated the Minimum Package of Services within existing National Plans of Action or Quality Standards for the Care and Support of OVC and Youth. The results of the assessment were used to inform a broader process of national integration by the SADC Secretariat.

River of Risk: Exploring Women’s Sexual Relationships and Decision Making. Tools for the Community. October 2009

CARE USA commissioned Mutengo Consulting to facilitate a workshop and fieldwork activities to design participatory tools and methods that could be used to analyse key decision points, risk factors and relationships in women’s lives that shape their ability to reduce their vulnerability to HIV transmission.

A toolkit was produced as a result of this process: River of risk – exploring women’s sexual relationships and decision making. Tools for the community.

The Political, Economic and Social Climate for Child Rights Organisations in Southern Africa. January 2009.

Save the Children Sweden commissioned this desk study to gain a comprehensive understanding of the political, economic and social climate in which child rights organisations operate and the external opportunities and challenges facing them, including in their relationship with government structures, the donor community and other child rights organisations. The study focuses on five countries in Southern Africa, including Botswana, Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland and Zambia.

"Those With No Means of Support": Malawi Vulnerability Targeting Study, February 2006.

Report prepared by Penny Ward of Mutengo Consulting for CARE USA's Southern and Western African Regional Management Unit (SWARMU) in Conjunction with WFP's Southern African Regional Bureau.

Synopsis: Concerns over increased hunger and the declining availability of food aid from donor countries has spawned renewed interest and debate over how food aid programmes can be designed to ensure that resources reach those who need it most. This paper, which was commissioned by CARE USA in conjunction with the World Food Programme, considers key questions regarding how food aid targeting is approached and implemented by two different agencies in Malawi: I-LIFE (Improving Livelihoods Through Increased Food Security Programme) co-led by CARE Malawi and Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the World Food Programme’s Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation (PRRO) programme.
